The third day of the playoff stage of the Counter-Strike 2 Major has come to an end. This day ended with an unexpected result for many fans, as the favorites in the matches, Team Vitality and G2 Esports, failed to overcome their opponents and exited the championship, securing 3-4th places. Meanwhile, FaZe Clan and Natus Vincere have advanced to the grand final.

Results of the Team Vitality vs FaZe Clan match at the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024:

  • FaZe removed Anubis
  • Vitality removed Ancient
  • FaZe picked Nuke
  • Vitality picked Vertigo
  • Vitality removed Mirage
  • FaZe removed Overpass
  • Inferno was left over

In this showdown, the French team Vitality had a subpar performance from ZywOo, with the first map ending with a statistic of 8/16, which is not typical of the world's top-ranked player. Consequently, Team Vitality lost the Nuke map with a score of 7:13. However, the tables turned on the second map. FaZe Clan seemed out of sorts, while Team Vitality dominated, losing only 5 rounds and forcing the decisive Inferno map. Yet, despite their morale boost after the second map, on Inferno, they couldn't find a way to break through FaZe Clan's defense, managing only 5 rounds themselves. After switching sides, losing the pistol round further diminished the chances of a French comeback on this map. In the attack, they only managed to secure three rounds, and FaZe Clan ultimately sealed Vitality's fate in the main event of Counter-Strike.

Results of the G2 Esports vs Natus Vincere match at the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024:

  1. G2 removed Mirage
  2. Natus Vincere removed Vertigo
  3. G2 picked Anubis
  4. Natus Vincere picked Nuke
  5. Natus Vincere removed Overpass
  6. G2 removed Inferno
  7. Ancient was left over

G2 Esports made some questionable map choices, as all three maps were comfortable for Natus Vincere, which they demonstrated. On the first map, Anubis, G2 Esports came close to a comeback and even managed to force overtime. However, securing only three rounds on defense on a map where the attack is typically stronger dashed G2 Esports' hopes of winning the first map in the semifinals. On the second map, Natus Vincere displayed a less than stellar attack on Nuke but still had a chance to get back into the game even after trailing 3:9. However, G2 Esports suddenly stopped losing rounds on the attack, leading to a series tie on the third map.

On Anubis, the turning point occurred when G2 Esports led 3:0, and NaVi had an eco-round, during which jL pulled off an ace with the Deagle. After that, NaVi started to gain momentum, winning eight out of the next twelve rounds. At one point, NaVi had six match points, but G2 Esports managed to claw back, bringing the score to 11:12. However, in the final round, HooXi and NiKo made a crucial mistake, leaving the team in a 3 vs. 5 situation, which G2 couldn't recover from, ultimately ending their run at the Major.

For m0nesY, it was his first Major appearance in the playoffs, but despite his strong individual performance, he couldn't secure victory for his team.
