5 Major eSports Games to Try in 2025

eSports are a major force in the worlds of both sports and entertainment. You could say they have the best of both worlds. Don't worry, it's still not too late to jump onto the bandwagon. One could argue that today is the best time to get a feel of eSports, as they're going through their golden era. If you're not sure where to start let us give you a helping hand. Here are some of the most popular eSports titles in the world. Pick a favourite, or try them all. Either way you will make no mistake.

LOL

League of Legends is in a stratosphere of its own as far as eSports go. It has the biggest fan base, most players, and highest revenue among all eSports. If you visit outlets such as Bety online casino you will learn that plenty of us also wager on eSports such as LOL. League of Legends has its own World Cup which attracts more than 100 million viewers when the tournament is on. In essence, LOL is a multiplayer online battle arena, MOBA, where you have two teams of five players each battling for dominion over a map, where magic forces, tools, weapons, and anything in between can be used to attain victory. What makes LOL stand the test of time is the fact it is one of the first games of its kind to be introduced, it is simple and easy to learn to play, and above all else remains free.

Valorant

When compared to LOL, Valorant is an eSports baby. It was created in 2020 and it is available in PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Just like League of Legends it is a product of Riot Games, a company that knows its eSports. It is a first person shooter, free to play, and one of the most popular titles out there. It also offers a gameplay where each team consists of 5 agents, which come in classes of Controllers, Duelists, Initiators, and Sentinels. For those who have played both, this game has a light resemblance to Counter Strike. While similar, Valorant has managed to carve a niche of its own in recent years, and it's all thanks to Valorant Champions Tour. We're talking about an international tournament that attracts players from all over the world. This year's finals is scheduled for September in Paris, and if in addition to Bety live games, you find time for some eSports betting Valorant Champions Tour offers a great opportunity to do so.

Counter-Strike

The Counter-Strike series has been around for some time now, so we're almost sure that everyone has heard of it. It is a product of a company called Valve which is one of the well known names in the eSports industry thanks to the launch of Half-Life series in addition to CS too. The best way to fall in love with CS is not to play the older version, while those are amazing too, but to start with Counter-Strike 2. It contains everything that made its predecessors amazing, with the addition of a refined gameplay and even better, modern graphics. It is another free to play, first person shooter, on this list, and both of these things make it popular. It also benefits from a well developed workshop where you can buy maps, skins, team-branded icons from eSports teams, which is no wonder as the game has more than a few millions fans. Just like the Valorant and League of Legends, Counter-Strike is always present on eSports tournaments, which are known for high competition and high prizes. So, if you want to become a professional and just casual player in the world of eSports, CS might be the way to go.

Dota 2

Dota 2 is a peculiar eSports title. You either love it, or you wish to never play it again after trying. With Dota 2 there is no in between. It is another amazing Valve product which came onto the scene in 2013, to be a competitor for LOL as it is another MOBA game. Dota 2 is also played by two teams of 5 players each, battling on uniquely created maps that require teamwork, communication, and quick thinking to win. The most significant event on the Dota 2 calendar is called The International and it is a tournament whose prize pool exceeds $40 million. It attracts numerous sponsors, top players, and millions of viewers. While more than a decade old, it is one of the titles Valve puts a lot of effort into keeping fresh and that can be seen by new players, as the gameplay remains fresh after all of these years.

Fortnite

Initially imagined as a PvE survival game, Fortnite blew up when players discovered its battle royale mode, which made it one of the most popular additions to the world of eSports in no time. Epic Games launched Fortnite back in 2017 and it has been going strong since. We're in 2025 now, and Fortnite still has millions of players participating in a 99 gamer battle royale. The characters used can be levelled up as there are items that can be bought to make yourself better at the game of Fortnite. It is one of the games that performed the best when it was added to different eSports events. Nowadays, it has a tournament of its own called Fortnite Championship Series which attracted more than 2.5 million users last year. As far as battle royale goes, Epic Games still hold the No. 1 position with Fortnite, which hasn't lost a step since 2017. The number of players grows daily, which is no wonder due to the number of weekly and even daily events organized all over the world. Not to mention that you can play it with your friends and family at first.
