IEM Rio 2024 Kicks off Today: Preview and Schedule of the First Day

Today begins the first day of the Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024, where the best 16 teams will compete for the $250,000 prize pool. The first place will receive $100,000 and direct invite to IEM Katowice 2025.

The tournament will be played in a double-elimination format with a bo3 group stage, and opening matches will also be played in a bo1 format. The top six teams qualify for the playoffs and will play at Farmasi Arena. The teams that will take the first place in their groups will go straight to the semifinals, and the second and third places will fight in the quarterfinals. The Grand Final of the tournament will again be held in the Bo5 format.

The debut tournament for Rio de Janeiro was the Intel Extreme Master Rio Major 2022, which was won by Outsiders.
